Where your Donations Go

The PTF is an independent, local organization, not affiliated with the PTA. All money raised during the year by the PTF is used for programs, activities, and services at Marvin Elementary. Each year's budget is determined by the success of the fundraising activities from the school year prior.

Some of the Programs and Services that have been supported by the Marvin PTF:

Classroom Supplies: grants for teachers at the start of the school year to purchase supplies for their classrooms • Music classes: RMC music program • Assemblies • Buses and Field Trips: San Diego Zoo, Whale Watching, Sea World, the Natural History Museum • Physical Education Classes: YMCA Play Program • P.E. and Playground Equipment: balls, hula-hoops, etc. • Health Office Supplies and Disaster Kits for each classroom • Library Hours and Books through Scholastic Book Fairs • Holiday Gift Shop: organized by the PTF with parent volunteers for students to purchase an assortment of inexpensive gifts for their family members • Fall Carnival: Halloween-themed family event with rides, games, crafts, and food • Jog-a-Thon: a popular school-wide fund-raising event promoting healthy choices • Multicultural Fair • Teacher Appreciation: Thank-you luncheon and gifts for teachers, staff, and aides • Yearbook: prepared and ordered by PTF volunteer parents; free yearbooks for fifth graders • Marvin's Garden • Marvin Men's group: Campus beautification projects and community get-togethers

How Can I Donate?

The Marvin Elementary Parent-Teacher Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. All donations are tax-deductible. Marvin PTF's Federal Tax ID is 33-0598413.

PLEASE NOTE: all donations made to the Parent Teacher Foundation will be allocated at the discretion of the Board; specific teacher or item requests may not be honored. To make a classroom donation, please work with your child's teacher.

Do you qualify for a Matching Gift?

Many employers have gift programs that match any charitable contributions made by their employees. Some companies match gifts made by retirees or spouses, too.

If your company has a matching gift program, follow these steps to request a match to your investment in Marvin:

  1. Contact your human resources or personnel office to request a matching gift form.

  2. Complete the form.

  3. Submit the completed form along with your personal donation to us.

  4. We will then work with your employer to process their gift.

If you are not sure if your company participates, please inquire through your human resources office to determine if they have a matching gift or workplace giving program.
